Chapter 1: The pack of wondering souls
The pack was not as lively as it used to be, every wolf lost the ambition in their eyes to keep moving forward. Most of the wolves struggled to get up to hunt and their ribcages could easily be seen through their fur. Only few wolves were strong due to the brainwashing of Matt's ideals. Matt commanded wolves that he be the first to eat before anyone else could, Matt enjoyed watching the wolves suffer. He found amusement in watching a weak wolf fall to the ground, while he eats his meat. Matt was the new and dreadful alpha of our pack, the one who lead many of our pack members to die. Matt always had these intense hazel eyes that would frighten any wolf if he felt he was threatened.
Matt's henchmen; Tom and Lucas, always watched the wolves either leaving from the pack or when they went off hunting. Wolves couldn't be left alone because many have tried to escape, but in the end, many were executed for their actions. This pack was admired by many when my dad was alpha and the wolves were the healthiest they ever were. My dad believed all animals could be united by avoiding eating one another and find ways on how we could help each other live. The wolves ate fruit and vegetables and even ate with neighboring clans. Now he's gone and Matt forces us to hunt those that were our friends. The screams and cries of our friends being ripped apart had many wolves go mentally unstable.
I want to restore the pack like it once was and I will put an end to Matt's reign. I have rebelled against Matt several times and he always threatens to banish me, but he never seems to. Today seemed slightly different however; the air carried a cooler breeze than usual and the trees shed many leaves as the wind blew. The skies began to change to an ominous gray color.
"Matt, its going to begin to thunder, should we still allow the wolves to hunt?"
said Lucas, a lightly brown colored wolf with dark brown eyes.
"Of course Lucas! Do you think because of a lighting storm, these mutts aren't able to hunt?"
"Sorry for asking sir, some might take this opportunity to runaway thats why I was curious."
Matt glared at Lucas and let out a small snarl. Matt turned his back to Lucus and took a moment to ponder in his thoughts. Matt swished his tail back and forth, devising a plan. Matt finally stood up and began to chuckle menacingly.
"Get David, I need him for a few seconds."
That was my name; David. Matt always tried to come up with these impossible tasks for me to complete because of my rebellious nature. Lucus began to walk over to me, but I already got up and walked toward the cave Matt resided in. As I walked to his cave, I felt raindrops fall on my fur. The storm was beginning and many of the wolves rejoiced for the rain. I watched wolves open their mouthes for the rain droplets to fall onto their dry tongues. Many didn't bother to move because they no longer had any happiness in them. Arriving in Matt's cave, always sent a chill up my spine. His black fur began to blow slowly as more rapid wind entered the cave and I always noticed his scars around his neck and face.
"David, I have come to a conclusion."
Matt said coldly.
I didn't respond to his words and waited for him to finish. Matt strongly hated it when you didn't respond back to him, I always did this on purpose. I could tell he was getting irrtated because he began to snarl.
"Answer me when I speak to you!"
"Yes Matt, what is your conclusion?"
I said in an almost sarcastic tone.
"I have conversed this with a few of my fellow pack mates and we have all agreed that you must leave, be banished from these lands."
At first I took this as a joke, but not one crack of a smile appeared on Matt's face. Matt was actually being deadly serious and this news began to slowly shock me. I felt my heart drop into the recesses of my stomach. I began to shake; not out of anger, but of pure astonishment.
"Matt you can't be serious, has my mother agreed to such actions?"
Finally, the smile I was waiting for appeared on Matt's face. That demoic smile that always left wolves speechless.
"Yes, I conversed this news with your mother. She seemed pleased with these actions. Today is a great day to leave this pack, with the storm coming and you have no place to be in such weather. I love that thought."
"You can't be serious. My mother would never agree to this in fact-"
Suddenly a voice began to echo in the cave, like she was cued to say this at the right time. I heard my mothers soft footsteps also echo and she appeared out of the darkness.
"Yes David, I agreed to this notation as well. You are banished officially, you are sentenced to leave now."
The feeling I had earlier, began to worsen. My heart began to beat rapidly at this news and it almost felt like it was going to pop out of my chest.
"Mother, why am I banished, I don't understand?"
"Matt told me everything David. How badly you wanted your father's position and killed for it. I am highly ashamed of you."
"Killed my father…me? Why would I kill someone I cared for mother? That doesn't make any sort of sense"
My mother began to growl at me ferociously and her paws began to spread. She stood in front of Matt in defense with her tail raised high.
"Stop lying David! I see you injured Matt in the process of your murder, look at these deep wounds. You need to respect your new alpha and you will no longer be concerned with being power hungry. Leave my presence forever."
Matt howled loudly for his henchmen who surrounded me in the cave. The snarls began to freighten me and I felt as though I couldn't protect myself. I wanted my father to see this abuse and see hear these twisted lies. Never in my life have I felt this feeling of terror.
"Look at him quiver before us, were just snarling."
"Mother please…can't you see Matt is lying. He is a psychopath who wants to see us fail, he wants us to-"
"Enough David! I am sick of your lies, I should have known you would do something like this. You always wanted to have your father's position, I just wish I could have you killed you before you killed your father."
"Mother but I-"
"Leave me David now!"
My mother ran forward and pushed me out of the cave. I stumbled on a few sharp rocks which left small cuts on my forelegs and back. The cuts stung, but the pain I felt was much deeper. The wolves began to look at me with surprised expressions and disbelief. Tom and Lucas stood up top from the cave and watched me like hawks about to catch their prey. This unsettling feeling began to overcame me and I ran as quickly as possible. I began to hear Tom and Lucas in the distance, they were chasing me. I am more than positive that Matt told them to kill me.
I didn't want to die for a stupid lie that was clearly devised by Matt. Tears began to run down my face and they fell on the blades of grass as I ran. I felt betrayed and my emotions began to get the better of me. Rain began to rapidly fall and the wind was gaining on speed. The wind was so powerful, I almost went flying with it. Thunder began to come in and the clouds that were once gray; grew a charcoal black.
